What is Reiki ?

Reiki is a spiritual practice and holistic therapy that originates in Japan Reiki is a holistic therapy that provides relaxation, reduces stress and supports overall. Mind body and soul wellbeing. The word ‘reiki’ is composed of two Japanese words: ‘Rei’ meaning universal energy, and ‘Ki’ which means life energy or vital force. Reiki is often translated as “Universal Life Force energy” or “Spiritually Guides Life Force Energy”. It can also be referred to as “Hand on Healing” or “Spiritual Healing”. Despite having a spiritual foundation Reiki does not follow any specific religious doctrine, therefore can be considered a true open approach accessible to all.

Adaptation for your special companion (Animals): Animal Reiki practitioners adjust their techniques to accommodate the unique needs and responses of different animals. The goal is to create a calm and healing environment where the animal can receive the benefits of Reiki energy.

What Happen during an animal reiki  session?

The reiki practitioner channels this universal life force energy mainly through their hands, offering it to the recipient. It is completely consensual if the recipient’s soul does not want to accept the energy it will just be gently released back to the universe. The positive energy is offered in the recipient’s best interest, promoting healing, relaxation, and overall wellbeing. The reiki energy will help to unblock internal energies, these blockages can lead to physical or energetic imbalances, which may manifest as illness or distress. It is often recommended that both animal companion and human companion have treatment together as their energies are integrated due to their soul-based bond.

Preparation: It is imperative a calm and stress-free environment is  created. This will usually mean that treatment (if face to face) will be offered in a familiar safe place for your companion.

Approach: Practitioners approach animals gently and respectfully, allowing them to come forward and engage in the session at their own pace.

Distance Reiki: Reiki energy needs to be introduced to your companion; therefore an introductory distance session is sometimes offered before any face to face or hands on session. For companions that are not comfortable with close contact or are in locations where in-person sessions are not possible, distance Reiki can be performed, where the practitioner sends healing energy remotely.

Session: A typical session may involve the practitioner placing their hands lightly on or near the animal's body, focusing on areas where the animal seems to need the most attention – once used to the energy they will happily direct where they need it to be offered. Sessions usually last between 15 to 45 minutes, depending on your companion’s receptivity and condition.

Conclusion

Reiki for animals offers a gentle, non-invasive way to support the physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of pets and other animals. Whether dealing with health issues, behavioural problems, or simply aiming to enhance an animal's quality of life, Reiki can be a valuable tool in promoting harmony and healing.
